2016 Federal Budget: How private hospitals fared

The 2016-17 Budget provides few surprises on the health front, but the Federal Government has used it to announce two key committees that will impact private health care.

A Private Health Sector Committee with 12 members representing private hospitals and consumers – among others – will be charged with advising the Government on private health insurance reform.

A reconstituted Prostheses List Advisory Committee will work with the Government towards more sustainable pricing for medical devices.

PH News spoke to Australian Private Hospitals Association Chief Executive Michael Roff about what the two committees mean for the private hospital sector.
